Cultivating Christian Community, Art, & Discussion in Knoxville's Historic Old City

Live at New City New City Cafe is open to the public every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (6:00-midnight). With four rooms now rather than one, our new home at 116 S Central enables us to continue our reputation as an artist-friendly listening venue while also offering spaces more conducive to conversation and serious discussions.

Our principal aim as a community is to cultivate Christian artistic expression and meaningful dialogue on a variety of issues. The Cafe consistently hosts quality artistic expression among a variety of disciplines--music, visual art, drama, and poetry. We are keenly interested in the cultivation of Christian artists, though not exclusively so. Our singer-songwriter events every Thursday night (no preaching or profanity, please) consistently draw an eclectic mix of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. Friday and Saturday night we host local, regional, national, and international artists.

As a coffeehouse we offer a handful of good entrees and great appetizers, desserts, and specialty coffee drinks. Several of the items on our menu are unique to New City (peanut butter pie, the Frizzle drink). Under the direction of a professional staff, we operate the Cafe principally with the help of volunteers from the community.

New City Community is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in good standing with the IRS and developed through a broad base network of
individuals, foundations, businesses, churches and para-church organizations.
Contributions are tax-deductible: PO Box, 397, Knoxville, TN 37901.
